Initially, Major General Hieu was buried in Bien Hoa Military Cemetery, next to General Do Cao Tri. A few years later, his remains were exhumed and transferred to Tan Dinh Church. On March 22, 2008, his family made arrangements for the cremation of the remains and the urn containing the ashes was placed next to the vault of his father, Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery - 1600 South Sproul Rd - Springfield, PA 19064 (15 - Garden Mausoleum - Building B).
